The Three Facets of Health
Being healthy is not just with a healthy body. Being healthy includes having a healthy mind, a healthy body, and a healthy soul. It takes all three for a truly healthy person. Gardening fosters all three. This is my personal experience.
A Healthy Mind
Communing with nature, in this case, gardening may clear my mind better than anything else. We all have experienced periods in our lives where troubles can become overwhelming. It seems that all that we do are not enough- lying awake at night, unable to concentrate on anything other than our difficulties, or sometimes sinking into a severe depression.
Depression has been a lifetime” curse” for me personally. I frequently have problems with what is called clinical depression meaning that I inherited it and also have a chemical imbalance. The imbalance can cause an episode of depression in an instant without any obvious reason.
It is times like these that I grab my backyard tools and head outside. Weather permitting of course. In case the weather is bad and I can’t escape, I am in trouble. I am thankful I reside in a climate where this does not occur too frequently.
When I am in the garden or yard working with my landscape, my head has an opportunity to unwind to speak. No true focus. Only doing mundane things like trimming, pulling some weeds here and there, possibly this plant would look better on the market, etc…
How can this help? Focusing on my issues has proceeded from the”forefront” (conscious) to the”back” (subconscious) of my mind. Of course, the problems haven’t gone away, they just are not dominating my every thought. Conscious thought demands energy. That is a contributing aspect to a depressed person’s fatigue. Subconscious thought doesn’t require nearly as much energy.
But, the subconscious is in work processing and looking for answers with no conscious awareness. On many occasions, I have had solutions or ideas pop into my head whilst working in the backyard and not even thinking about any difficulties. WOW! I call it my”Mountain Top Experience” when this occurs.
A Healthy Body
Gardening is good exercise! Doctors urge their patients to engage in various exercise regimens to improve their health. At the mall or walking tracks, you see recovering heart patients walking to help regain their health. Occasionally it’s preventive measures to encourage a healthy body.
Maybe I have a peculiar way of looking at things, but I see walking round in circles because of a waste of time. Why don’t you get your exercise and be productive at the same moment? Wouldn’t it be much more rewarding to promote a healthy body and have something else to show for this? To put it differently, two benefits for your one effort.
My gardening attempts give me the practice I need and generate a beautiful flower bed (or landscape, veggie garden, etc.) to enjoy. Rather than”walking in circles” I now have something to show for it as well as this exercise.
Can gardening give you adequate exercise in all the areas you need maybe your query? You can design almost any type of exercise regimen you can imagine about gardening. Of course, it is highly advisable to speak with your healthcare professional before participating in any kind of exercise program.
Here are only a few examples of beneficial exercises Which Can Be obtained from gardening:
Gaining flexibility helps to alleviate muscle tension, improve balance and posture, improve the selection of movement and stretch, and relax muscles. Think of all the contortions you put your body in by simply weeding your garden or landscape. Bending over, sitting, getting up, or reaching to name a couple. Overall, you personally or using muscles which simply walking doesn’t do.
Also called”cardio”, aerobics increases your pulse, and helps burn calories rapidly in addition to reducing symptoms of depression, prevent many forms of cardiovascular disease, and improves insulin resistance to diabetes. The ideal tool to offer aerobic exercise is that the conventional shovel! Just digging in the dirt may increase the heart rate quicker than anything else that I know of. And you can work at a pace that is suitable for you.
Strength exercises improve strength, tone muscles, and burn off fat. Furthermore, the benefits of improving bone strength, combating osteoporosis, decrease blood pressure, preventing lower back pain, increasing your resting metabolic rate, promoting emotional well-being, helping in insulin sensitivity, and glucose metabolism. WOW! Picking up sacks of fertilizer, pulling, prying, digging, etc., are just a couple of strength exercises that come along with gardening.
I am sure you can think of several other ways of perfecting your workout regimen while gardening. Please, DON’T OVERDO IT ON YOUR FIRST DAY OUT THIS SPRING! Being overzealous and enduring the effects can be very discouraging. You can also visit https://www.affinitykitchens.com/remodeling and read about New & Custom Kitchens Phoenix |
